ABOUT THE ARTIST

MarianneDicaire_LOffrandeDeLaMer_2000X3000px.jpg

MARIANNE DICAIRE is a contemporary painter based in Gatineau, Québec. At the intersection of abstraction and figuration, she creates biomorphic compositions that evolve organically. Originally from rural Ontario, she is deeply connected to the forest, which shapes her sensitivity to texture, shadow, and subtle ecological rhythms.

Each painting begins with a single element from an ecosystem, such as a mushroom, coral fragment, tidal movement, or strand of algae. From this spark, forms multiply, transform, and intertwine. Distorted characters emerge unexpectedly, and layers accumulate, letting the work grow like a living system.

Drawing on visual arts, psychology, and graphic design, Dicaire balances structure with intuition. Her canvases act as autonomous ecosystems where organic forms and distorted characters coexist in spaces that feel both aquatic and terrestrial. Meaning remains fluid, inviting viewers into a constantly shifting perceptual experience.
